About Us

A Bespoke Butcher Shop In The Heart Of The Peak District

We would like to welcome you to our family run butchery located in the historic town of Matlock. Using native breeds such as shorthorn beef and texel lambs we provide high quality meat at an affordable price. As we are a small, independent butchery; we can also cater to specific orders if you have something particular in mind.

Not Just Meat

We offer a wide selection of condiments and sauces to compliment your purchases whether it's a traditional roasting joint or a superb steak for a restaurant quality meal at home. Along with this we also stock bread, free range eggs and pies and will stock milk in the near future so watch this space!

Originally from Prague, Czech Republic, Martin has been a butcher for the last 26 years and has worked in a total of 4 different countries. This has given him a vast level of experience in all aspects of butchery, including traditional butchery styles from different cultures, and charcuterie.


Martin worked for Richard Hobday when the shop was White Peak Farm Butchery for 11 years before taking it over as his own.

Oliver has been a butcher since the age of 16 and has worked in a variety of farm shops and traditional butchers shops. He is an expert in high quality meat and full of ideas for the best way to cook your products to make a truly delicious meal.

All our meat comes from locally reared, native breeds such as Shorthorn beef and Texel lamb. These older, slow growing breeds provide a taste that cannot be compared to supermarket hybrids.

Our suppliers are all high welfare meaning the animals have enjoyed open fields and quality feed throughout their life to ensure the very best meat is produced.
